For Strong Students - Support Teachers

At the heart of every strong community is a strong school system.

Too often, conversations around education become political battles. I believe we need a more practical, common-sense approach: focus on what works for our students and the educators who dedicate their lives to them.

For the communities of Lakota School District, our greatest responsibility is to ensure that every student has the opportunity to succeed—and that starts with supporting the teachers who guide them. As an HR professional I would bring a unique set of skills to the board to help ensure we are supporting and engaging our teachers while driving higher student success.

Investing in Teachers

Teachers are the backbone of our schools. I believe in prioritizing professional development - giving them the tools to adapt to evolving curriculum standards, new technology, and diverse classroom needs. I will advocate for meaningful training opportunities that are relevant, collaborative, and practical—so teachers feel equipped and empowered, not overburdened.

Retaining Great Talent

Lakota attracts excellent educators, but we must do more to develop, engage, and keep them here. Retention isn’t just about pay—though competitive salaries are essential. It’s also about creating an environment where teachers feel valued and supported. That means listening to their concerns, reducing unnecessary bureaucracy, and giving them space to focus on teaching.

Engaging Teachers as Partners

When teachers feel heard, students benefit. I will work to strengthen communication between the board and educators, ensuring their voices are at the table when decisions are made. Teachers are closest to the classroom reality; their perspective is vital in shaping policies that actually work.

Ensuring Health & Safety

A strong learning environment is also a safe one. Parents deserve peace of mind knowing their children are cared for, and teachers need confidence that their workplace supports both their health and security. I will advocate for continued investment in safe, well-maintained facilities and commonsense policies that protect everyone in our schools. From emergency preparedness to mental health resources, safety must remain a priority so that teachers can teach and students can learn without distraction or fear.

Maximizing Student Outcomes

Supporting teachers is not separate from supporting students—it’s the same mission. When we invest in teacher growth and stability, we directly improve classroom experiences. Students thrive when guided by engaged educators who have the resources and backing they need to succeed.

A Balanced Approach

These principles shouldn’t be political. They are practical guides that will inform my priorities and decisions on the board to ensure we achieve real results for our kids. Partnering closely with parents and other community stakeholders, we can work wonders on behalf our students and teachers!

Strong teacher support, smart resource allocation, and a steady focus on student success will keep Lakota schools among the best in Ohio.

As a member of the school board, I will stay grounded in this simple truth: when we lift up our teachers, we lift up our students, and when we lift up our students, we strengthen our entire community.
